While confronting, this unites two of my crusader topics – religious “moral” prejudice and equal rights, especially for those who identify as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transexual and Intersex. While I am heterosexual, I have gay and lesbian friends and relatives, and I find it abhorrent that they have less rights than I do, especially when it comes to marriage equality. People may have a right to believe what they want, however that right does not extend to treating others unequally.
The only good this kind of religious prejudice serves is in exposing believers as bigoted and hateful, which hopefully has a detrimental effect on prospective recruits. The more outraged they become, the less likely those with gay and lesbian friends and relatives will want to associate themselves with the doctrine.
